Duke University Diet
The diet was developed in 1939 by Dr. Walter Kempner of Duke University but
became popular only in the1940s and 50s. "Duke University Diet" also
called "Rice Diet" is a diet program that needs continuous medical
supervision by doctors and dietary experts and is being run from a place called
the "Rice House" in Durham, North Carolina. People have to travel
to the above address to participate in this weight loss program.
The diet program consists of two different phases:
The first phase is very strict and meals mainly comprise of fruits and grains.
In the second phase vegetables, carbohydrates are allowed in addition to the
fruits and grains. Also, fish can be consumed once a week.
