Gluten-free, Casein-free Diet
Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, oats and rye whereas casein is
a protein found in milk products. Research studies have shown that presence
of both gluten and casein in the diet may cause or aggravate autism (a medical
condition where a person is unable to communicate and form relationships) in
people, especially amongst children.
"Gluten-free, Casein-free diet" recommends eliminating these two
types of proteins from the diet to control autism. According to this theory
some people have the inability to breakdown gluten and casein proteins. These
undigested proteins (peptides) enter the blood stream and cause a negative effect
on brain development thus inducing certain behavioral changes.
