Grapefruit Diet
This diet plan has been around since 1930s but gained in popularity only in the
mid 1970s. The source of its origin is unknown as no one has claimed responsibility
for launching this diet program. Doubts have been raised about the "Grapefruit
Diet" as some consider it nutritionally weak.
The diet relies on a heavy dose of grapefruit and recommends low calorie foods.
It is claimed that grapefruit contains certain compounds that help in the fat
burning process.
For dieters a daily meal consists of:
Breakfast: grapefruit, eggs, bacon
Lunch: grapefruit, salad, meat
Dinner: grapefruit, salad or some cooked vegetable, meat or fish, a cup of tea
or coffee
Bedtime: skimmed milk
