Lacto Vegetarianism
Vegetarians are people who don't eat any meat products and can be further classified
into vegans, lacto-vegetarians and lacto-ovo vegetarians.
Vegans: Vegetarians who don't consume any product derived from animals like eggs,
milk and dairy products.
Lacto-vegetarians: Vegetarians who consume dairy products like milk, cheese, butter,
yogurt etc. but don't consume eggs.
Lacto-ovo vegetarians: Vegetarians who consume both eggs and dairy products.
Lacto vegetarianism primarily exists in certain eastern countries like India
as vegetarians from this area consider eggs as a non-vegetarian meal. According
to certain religious faiths like Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism consuming eggs
is similar to consuming meat and hence needs to be avoided.
