Living Foods Diet
Seeds and grains when soaked in water start germinating and can be considered
as "living". Raw foods contain inactive enzymes but when they sprout
these enzymes get activated. Thus living foods can be described as raw foods that
have "active" enzymes.
A "living food diet" is recommended to eliminate various health problems.
This diet is considered to be very rich in enzymes, minerals and vitamins that
are essentially required to maintain a healthy body. According to this dietary
theory cooking destroys majority of the nutrients present in raw foods and hence
should be avoided. A living food diet includes sprouted foods (nuts, seeds,
grains), raw vegetables, fresh fruits and juices.
