Ovo-lacto vegetarian diet

An ovo-lacto vegetarian diet is a popular form of the vegetarian diet that allows the consumption of eggs and dairy products. Usually, vegetarian diets are considered to be protein deficit due to the absence of meat products. However the ovo-lacto vegetarian diet is perhaps the healthiest form of a vegetarian diet as eggs and certain milk products can very effectively act as a source for protein and calcium thus making the diet more nutritionally balanced.

The diet is low in saturated fats and cholesterol and thus proves to be beneficial in many health problems like obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart diseases etc.
